I'm getting an error message at bootup that says something
like unable to add virtual root...any ideas?

Hi Jeff,

you don't mention if this is a Pro or Server install.  But
here is one link for FrontPage 2000 and one would assume
W2K Pro.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;202632

From looking at some of the other suggestions that popped
up when I did search for Virtual Root I would assume that
this deals with either your Front Page install, SAMBA, or
IIS.

Hope this helps

I've received the following error message.  It pops up
this error message with different programs.  For instance
all MS Office Applications such as Word and Excel pop up
this error message.  Also AOL Instant Messanger (AIM) pops
up a similar message but with "Cannot find
file 'patcher.exe' (or one of it's components).  Please
make sure path and filename are correct and that all
required libraries are available."  Many other programs
pop us this type of message but with different files they
cannot find.  Does anyone know how to fix this ?

I suspect a virus.
Scan your machine.

Bob.

An error message pops up ever single time I try to
download a file from a  friends computer over a network
connection.  The Error message states, "The instruction
at "0x0887e301" referenced memory at "0x0e850000". The
memory could not be "written". Any help would be
appreciated.
