Encrypting File System

Hi,
OK, so how exactly does the Encrypting File System in Win2k Pro work - who
will it stop from accessing encrypted files, and how is it different from
changing the permissions for different users?
Thanks,
Alex.

1. Encrypting File System (EFS) & Smart Card

I have Basic EFS cert installed on smart card. Its got all
the required EFS extensions. It doesn't give me any
problems when I use that cert to encrypt the files on
Win2K machine, but when I try to open (decrypt) the file
it says "Access Denied". I think it is not able to
retrieve private key from smart card to decrypt the file.
It works fine if the same cert is installed on local
machine. Does anyone know if there is any way I can use
the cert installed on smart card for EFS?

Thanks in advance.
