Winsock dead?

Winsock dead?

Post by Timothy El » Fri, 04 May 2001 10:59:54

Okay, this is weird.  Basically, all of the sudden I can't use ANY winsock
applications, IE, OE, AIM, nothing that needs sockets.  I CAN however ping
anyone on my LAN, and address outside of my LAN, it is also resolving
domains.  Also, a program I have written in Visual Basic crashes when I tell
it to connect to a server with the error "Network subsystem unavailable"  Is
Winsock dead or what?  I've tried reinstalling ALL of my protocols,
including TCP/IP, I've run sfc - scannow and restarted, I've reinstalled the
network card (even though I knew it was working), I tried installing the
q278522 fix, and I reinstalled SP1, all to no avail.  Does anyone have ANY
idea what the problem is?  I don't feel like reinstalling this damn thing.
TIA

Are you using MS Proxy Client? If so, might need to update that.
