by i continue to get disconnects with boards/servers, even with the
new ROM for the USR Robotics internal 28-8. i was disconnected
three times in a row trying to connect to the university of
minnesota internet provider today...i hook up, i'm on line for
5-15 minutes...the screen freezes for 30 seconds or so, then
there's a 'click' and i'm off. the modem will not re-init...it
either makes a pulsating sound or loud buzzing sound...and i
have to hard boot off for 10 minutes for it to re-set. i have
read the posts about success other users have had with the new chip
and am willing to entertain the possibility the problem lies on
this side of the screen. i am using PROCOMM 2.11 my init string
is AT&F&C1&D2X7&H1&R2K3&B1&A3 (and several variations). my
baud rate set is 115,200. i'm open to any suggestions in
different software, init strings, or settings. i do have
some successful connections, mostly with other USR's, at
28-8 with a file transfer rate of 3300 cps. but i still get those
darn disconnects, which immobilize the modem until i power
down for at least 10 minutes. any suggestions appreciated!
