1. Megahertz 2400 bps Laptop modem in Compaq LTE/286.
While away from home I would like to use my Compaq LTE/286 with Procomm
Plus for DOS and a Megahertz 2400 bps Laptop Modem model C324 to access
my ISP via my telephone credit card.
The number I have to place is 1-800-487-7646-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-507-359-8050,
where the xxxx-xxxx-xxxx is my AT&T card number.
That's too many numbers to enter into my dialing directory, but through
the use of prefix and suffix codes I succeeded on a trial run with the
Atlas Peripherals modem on my desk top computer.
Here's what I used for the prefix codes:
A 1-800-487-7646,,,,,1
B xxxx-xxxx-xxxx,,,1,
C 1-507-359-8050
I just used ABC for the telephone number in the Procomm Plus dialing
directory.
Unfortunately, however, I found that I can't get this method to work
with my Laptop. Apparently my modem needs to suck in all those
numbers before dialing, and that exceeds the Megahertz modem's capability.
Can anyone suggest a way to accomplish my goal of accessing that long
number with my Laptop equipment?
Please reply directly. My ISP's news service is undependable.
