Him,
can anyone confirm that an internal ISA  U.S. Robotics faxmodem model
5687 is a "real" modem containing a Com port and capable of running
under DOS?

Thanks

It is a real modem.

U.S. Robotics? 56K* Faxmodems
Include V.90 ITU 56K standard and x2? technology
#5686 External   #5687 Internal

The 5687 is the Internal version of the 5686.

One caveat... it may have jumperless configuration which might be a
problem in some instances.

1. Is A "FAXMODEM" not a "WINMODEM"???

If the modem says, "FAX MODEM" and not "WIN MODEM" is that how we tell
the difference?

I have a winmodem and would rather have a "hardware modem"

Someone suggest one for under $125.00 please

THANKS!!!
