How far are you from the nearest phone jack? For purposes of Faxing, you
should be able to use a 50 foot phone extension cord.

Or, if you have a wall phone in the kitchen that's reasonably new (less than
10 years, I'd say) and live in the US or Canada then there is a phone jack
behind it. You can unplug it and plug the modem's phone cable into that.
There are also replacement wall jacks for wall phones that have additonal
jacks for hooking up these things (I have one in my kitchen).

1. Phone line won't work with laptop modem..

Hello,

I have a second phone line installed which works fine w/ my desktop pc's
moden ( a US Robotics v90 internal modem ) but when I use my laptops'
modem, it won't let me connect. I have two ISPs ( Earthlink and a local
ISP ). When I try to dial up to my local ISP , I get a message that says
" Sorry that service is not available on this line".

Can anyone help me out?
