Whats the difference between USR 5687-02 vs 5687-03?

Hi,

What is the difference between USR models 5687-02 and 5687-03? I just
returned an -02, and got a -03 instead. I can't find the -03 on the web
site.

Am I better off or worse?

Thanks

Better--

the -03 has jumpers, so PnP is optional.  It probably also has newer
firmware than your -02 model and possibly better electrical isolation (USR
has improved the MOVs on many of their modems recently).

One of the changes was to add jumper selection for com port on the -03
model. I'm using mine just fine with an ISP that uses Rockwell modems in
their POP. Typical connect at 44k with x2 disabled.

good luck,

Mike

You are better off with the -03, as others have mentioned, it
has more recent firmware 2/99 or 4/99, where the -02 is 6/98.
Also the jumper pin capability will allow you to set it up for use
in non-Plug n Pray applications. I have my -03 installed on COM3,
IRQ5 using the jumpers. When I tried to install it by PnP, the
sound card kept grabbing IRQ5 before the modem could, so by using
the jumpers, it solved that problem. Good luck.
