NFS mounting, RPC: Authentication error, I/O error

Post by dar.. » Tue, 04 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Dear All,
I just upgraded (reinstalled due to the system crash) my
file/application server (my.file.server) from Tru64 system from 4.0c to
4.0F. All works fine except that I can't mount file system on the other
computers.
when I do on my regular.4.0B_digital_unix.client:
mount my.file.server:/export/me/ /mount/me/here
I got:
RPC: Authentication error, I/O error
I updated passwd, group files on both machines but to no avail.
I will very much appreciate your help.
Greetings

Does not seem to match the error message, but have you checked
that /etc/exports is properly set up.

  Good Luck

1. mount clntudp_create: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Authentication error

When I try to mount something from a remote computer,
I keep getting this error from some computers, like sgi. I used to get it
from hps, but they work now. There is nothing wrong with the sgis, since
they network with other computers fine. This happens with 3 different linux
computers, using slackware from around April last year to 2.1.0.
I have posted that before and some people suggested fiddling with
the hps configuratino files. This is clearly not a solution !

Thanks,
