a Tru64 message and the very latest version of Tru64 is 5.0a.
From the above message I would say that you have a problem which will
require a competent admin.
You could try booting from the generic kernel, but it looks to me like
you have more problems than that.
What were you doing before this happened? Why did you shut down the
machine? What does your operations manual say about unusual boot
procedures for this machine?
If you want to try booting from the generic kernel then the command you
need would be
boot -file genvmunix
If this works then when your admin gets back make sure that you tell
him about the problem and get him to rebuild the kernel and sort things
out.
