Hi everybody,
I'm actually putting together a list of available
linux derivates that support either real time or
embedded functionality (or both).
So far I found the following, are there more than
these? Are the features I mentioned correct? More
importatnt features?
Embedded:
- uClinux (http://www.uclinux.org)
* optimized for small footprint
* runs on CPUs without MMU
* no memory protection
* no real time capabilities
Real Time:
- RTLinux (http://www.rtlinux.org)
* small RT-kernel running on HW with Linux as
thread with lowest priority
* full POSIX compatibilitie wanted (?)
- RTAI Linux (http://www.rtai.org)
* small RT-kernel running on HW with Linux as
thread with lowest priority
* full POSIX compatibilitie but with a lot of
additional features (?)
- RED-Linux (http://linux.ece.uci.edu/RED-Linux)
* Linux itself gets RT capabilites, no need
for RT-kernel as above
* in early development (?)
I would really appreciate your help!
Thanks
-Rainer
