Hi,
What's the general opinion of using USB flash devices for embedded
systems? It has the advantage that it's cheap and off the shelf, which
suits our purposes. It has kind of a tacky feel to it though.

I don't know if USB flash devices implement this as well, you might want
to check this before starting your project...

1. using USB flash disk under freebsd
under freebsd4.3 release, I have a ASUS Ai Flash
(http://www.asus.com/download/accessories/accessoriesstorage.htm), I
config the kernel with usb mass storage device support and da support,
when I try to mount ASUS Ai Flash, it make some errors just like
follows( run dmesg):
