oops. proc table is full

Post by Chris » Thu, 31 Jan 2002 16:04:32

Hi there,
While I was building "perl-5.6.1nb7" from the source
I got the error message saying that the proc table is full
and the build cann't fork any process =(

Is there anyone suffer the same problem ?

I have updated the pkgsrc vis "sup -s" today ( 30 Jan 2002)..
so I am thinking maybe that build script is *blah
since I have just build perl-5.6.1nb6  couple days ago without any
problem...

Any ideas ?

thanks
-Chris

Check the MAXUSERS value in kernel config file and increase it if needed
(up to 16, for example).

No doubt that perl-5.6.1 was fine , since I can build "perl-5.6.1nb6"
without a problem too.
but I am talking about "perl-5.6.1nb7" on i386 here. =)

I guess you know my point ;-0

1. proc table full with Apache 1.2.4

I just brought up Apache 1.2.4 (was using NCSA 1.5.2).  In pretty
short notice, my Sun running 4.1.3, started giving mre proc: table
is full messages.  Sure enough there were tons of httpd proccess
running.  Anyone know why this is?

Thanks for any help.
Beth
