Does NetBSD/pmax have a usable X Windows?
Matthew Orgass
Anyone know if there's work being done on this? Namely, either writing
a new-style graphics interface for NetBSD, or pulling the old driver
code out of X11R5 and sticking it in R6?

I've run X under NetBSD/pmax on both color & mono 2100 & 3100 boxes &
on a color 5000/25 with the built in graphics card. I think that the
X server will work under the PMAGB-BA (aka hx aka sfb) frame buffer,
but I'm not 100% certain. I know that the nicer, accelerated cards
are not supported.

: Yes--but only X11R5. R6 doesn't include the drivers for the old Ultrix
: 4.1 graphics interface (which is what NetBSD copies). Also, xdm doesn't
: work too well--rumor has it that an xdm compiled for Ultrix works just
: fine. YMMV.
This would still be a great improvement. The system in question is
only Ultrix 4.2 with a license that only allows for two logins at once.
My next question is this: If I install NetBSD on a different drive,
will I be able to boot both without major config changes?
