Gateway 2000 "telepath" modems & cable-modems...

I have a TelePath modem in my "wintel" box, here.  The modem is a so-called
"win" modem.  Apparently it works by offloading some of the work
(specifically the UART) to the main system.  As such, it's not straight-
forward to use.

(These modems are apparently re-branded USR modems, for whatever that
may be worth.)

Is there any hope for using this under NetBSD?

Related, I will be moving in a few months, and may end up using
a cable-modem.  In the long-term, that makes the TelePath modem
support less important.  On the other hand, should I also expect
problems trying to use a cable-modem under NetBSD?  I'd hate to
spend the money for the adapter, subscribe to a service, and
find that the only way to make any use of it would be under MS-
WINDOWS.  (Well, short of learning a lot about UNIX device-drivers
in short order and writing one.)

Yes, you'll probably need to buy a bigger disk.  Other than that
NetBSD works just fine with a cable modem.
