Help: Modem w/ i386

Post by Keith MacDona » Sat, 02 Dec 1995 04:00:00

I'm having trouble with a modem under NetBSD/i386.  The modem works fine
under DOS, and was working under Linux.

When booting I get:
com0 at isa port 0x3f8-0x3ff irq4: ns82450 or ns16450, no fifo
com1 at isa port 0x2f8-0x2ff irq3: ns82450 or ns16450, no fifo
com2 at isa port 0x3e8-0x3ef irq5: ns16450a, working fifo
                       ( or was it ns1655a ?)

com2 is the modem, various irq have been tried.

The kernel is a GENERICAHA from Sept.

Basically, we get no response from the modem, and nothing is going out

Any help would be appreciated, plus I'd like to know the major and minor
device numbers for this.

1. Downloading RH7...So many types: 7.0-i386...7.0-i386-respin...7.0-ja-i386

I was going to download RedHat 7.0.  But since it's a long download.  I
want to make sure I download what is the best.  I see that there are
three types of ISO's:

Which one do you guys recommend?  I want the most updated one.  Would
that be the "ja's" or the "respin's."
