LAST CALL FOR VOTES (of 2)
            moderated group comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.announce
             unmoderated group comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.misc

Newsgroup lines:
comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.announce  OpenBSD announcements. (Moderated)
comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.misc      The OpenBSD operating system.

Votes must be received by 23:59:59 UTC, 21 Feb 1997.

This vote is being conducted by a neutral third party.  Direct
questions about the proposed group to the proponent.

RATIONALE: all groups

OpenBSD is a Berkeley Networking Release 2 (Net/2) and 4.4BSD-Lite
-derived Operating System.  It is a fully functional UN*X-like system
with an emphasis on security which runs on several architectures and
is being ported to more.  With the recent formal release of OpenBSD
2.0 there is a growing interest in OpenBSD as well as an increase in
the user base.  This has created a need for discussion areas for
OpenBSD users and potential users.

The existing groups in the comp.unix.bsd.* hierarchy do not
meet this need.  They either pertain to other significantly
different BSD-derived systems or serve BSD systems in general
and are thus not appropriate to OpenBSD-specific discussion.

There exists a set of mailing lists dedicated to OpenBSD but
they are technical in nature and are used almost exclusively
by the OpenBSD developers.

CHARTER: comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.announce

comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.announce is a moderated group for general
announcements pertaining to the OpenBSD operating system.  This
includes but is not limited to new releases of OpenBSD, impending
changes that affect OpenBSD users, and new products available for
OpenBSD.

Moderation policies:

Articles should be accepted that pertain to the availability of new
products for the OpenBSD operating system (including new versions
of OpenBSD itself).  Articles regarding commercial products should
be accepted if and only if the products in question are usable
with OpenBSD and not general in nature.

END CHARTER.

MODERATOR INFO: comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.announce

END MODERATOR INFO.

CHARTER: comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.misc

comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.misc is an unmoderated group for the discussion
of the OpenBSD operating system.  This is to be an open forum for
OpenBSD developers, users, and the curious.

The posting of adverti*ts, massively cross-posted articles (spam)
is strictly prohibited.

The posting of binary files is prohibited.  Posting of source files is
discouraged.  A posting should include a URL or FTP reference instead.

END CHARTER.

VOTING PROCEDURE NOTES:

Standard Guidelines for voting apply.  One account per person and one
vote per person.  Votes must be mailed directly from the voter to the
votetaker.  Anonymous, forwarded or proxy votes are not valid; this
includes votes generated by WWW/HTML/CGI forms.

Vote counting is automated: If you don't follow these directions then
your vote may not get counted.  If you do not receive an
acknowledgment of your vote within several days, contact the votetaker
about the problem.  It's your responsibility to make sure that your
vote is registered correctly.  Duplicate votes are resolved in favor
of the most recent valid vote.  Addresses and votes of all voters will
be published in the final voting results post.

The purpose of a Usenet vote is to determine the genuine interest in
people who would read a proposed newsgroup.  Soliciting votes from
disinterested people defeats this purpose.  Please do not redistribute
this CFV.  If you must, direct people to the official CFV as posted to
news.announce.newgroups.  Distributing pre-marked or otherwise edited
copies of this CFV will result in those votes being cancelled.  When
in doubt, ask the votetaker.
