PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION

Brian Ricker is a Software Engineer with Technology Applications in
Chesterfield. He has been using Linux since the 0.99 kernel and
gave an entertaining overview of X Window Managers for Linux to the
users group in December 1996.

This month Brian will discuss graphics tools available for Linux.
His presentation will cover:

  - Image Viewing/Simple Manipulation (resize, etc.) - xv, ImageMagick

  - Image Editing - the GiMP, various paint programs (xfig etc)

  - Miscellaneous tools (used for Web pages etc) - gifmerge (makes
    animated GIF files), giftrans (makes GIF files with transparent
    backgrounds)

Now that your Linux machine is up and running, how do you perform
routine maintenance.  Matthew Feldt, Chair of the St. Louis Unix
Users Group - Linux SIG will describe Unix system administration
with an emphasis on Linux.

This presentation will cover: File system maintenance; backup
strategies; LILO; rebuilding the Linux kernel; RedHat's `rpm'; useful
Linux utilities; etc...

If your new to Linux, this presentation will introduce some essential
system administration concepts.
