UNIX su problem on SCO UW 7.x

Post by Arvind Shar » Sun, 20 Apr 2003 01:21:35

On one of the system when I do

su - root

it comes back with an error -

"ERROR - no shell"

I checked all the persmissions on the 'su' command, 'ksh' and other simple checks.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks !

1. SCO UNIX "su" command?

Hello,

I just bebuilt a SCO UNIX kernel for release 3.2 V4.2 with
preservation of
system configuration(?).

I used the passwd command to change root password and restored
/etc/passwd and /etc/group but I could not use the new root password for
the su command. I could use the password to login though!

   Any taker?
