I have been losing hair over this problem, I have tracked the
problem as far as getty_ps (i have the 2.0.7e version) not finding
any process owning the lock files it makes. Debug output sample:
Jul 13 00:45:57 magrathea uugetty[203]: D_RUN: checking for lockfiles...
Jul 13 00:45:57 magrathea uugetty[203]: D_LOCK: checklock(/var/lock/LCK..ttyS1)
called
Jul 13 00:45:57 magrathea uugetty[203]: D_LOCK: read 195 from the lockfile
Jul 13 00:45:57 magrathea uugetty[203]: D_LOCK: no active process has lock, will
remove
Jul 13 00:45:57 magrathea uugetty[203]: D_LOCK: checklock(/var/lock/LCK..cua1) c
alled
Jul 13 00:45:57 magrathea uugetty[203]: D_LOCK: read 195 from the lockfile
Jul 13 00:45:57 magrathea uugetty[203]: D_LOCK: no active process has lock, will
remove
Why it worked once is very strange.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Keith.
