Hi,

Does anybody know if it is possible to buy just the motherboard and
Alpha processor without buying the whole system?  If so, any idea who
sells them?

Any info is appreciated.

check out www.alphalinux.org and follow the vendors links. quite
frequently there are motherboard and cpus on eBay.

I have a Cabriolet 275mhz with power supply for sale. private email if

I've bought my LX/533 board (+cpu&mem) at Aspen Systems,

And I am very pleased with it.
I bought it some years ago, but it was a very fast
board at a moderate price.

Hmm, the alpha components page, which now lists only RAM, used to
have pricing for board-CPU combos. You'll need to inquire, I guess:

www.starshipcorp.com has stuff there too. I just bought a floppy for $39US,
and went to www.harddata.com for the 44pin IDE cable that lets you use a
standard portable 2.5" IDE HDD with the multia for $10 +s/h.

CD if you got CD and ftp/nfs if you got LAN or a free/cheap net.
I've done hd installs (malformed CD-R) and ftp installs (when I got hooked
to the net)

BTW is there an easy non-american based (!) solution to add an external
SCSI port to an axppci33 (or any box ofcourse =) ?
That's for me. For others, fell free to recommend your favorite US store
to go and buy a new ultraexpensive SCSI controller =)

Just buy an external connector that you can plug into your SCSI cable?
Of course you have to get a terminator as well if you don't use it, but
apart from that it shouldn't be too hard to find. I bought mine for fl. 15
(about $7). Your local electronics shop should be able to get it for you..

C50F, yes. Thought of that. I even have a backplate.
Termination will be done by the external CD drive (unless I chain more one
day).

Yep. I also plan to open up the cooling profile and check and replace the
silicon grease.
The reason I want external is that my *drive won't fit in my case (All
5.25" slots full) and I'm planning on a scanner.
I think UMAX 1220S is a "good" cheap one? (I think it's UMAX?)
