Hi folks,

I receive so much spam in one of my inboxes it's unbeleivable. I had
what could be a really dumb idea.

I reply to spammers with other spammers spam ;-) Is this a stupid
idea?

Yes, it's a stupid idea.  It is typical for spammers' email addresses
to be forged or otherwise invalid, so that it is entirely unlikely
that you will actually hit them up with your response.

I've also heard that some spammers will take a reply as a verification
that the address is valid.  This includes the unsubscribe feature.

Yes, that's possible.

And has the downright counterproductive result that it amounts to
telling them "Yes, I got the spam; this is a _real_ address that you
can sell onwards to other people!"

1. Maybe OT: spam

Have any of you run into this guy's project? He's trying to drive creators
of bulk mailing software out of business by grossly inflating the hits they
receive on pay per hit search engines.

Never seen anything like it. A nice long-term solution?
