RH6.0 jensen install

Post by Ewan » Fri, 29 Sep 2000 04:00:00

If anyone has Redhat linux 6.0 running on a jensen could you help will
install problems i'm having.

DECpc axp150 (Jensen)

I have followed the latest how-to's from DEC's ftp site.

aboot/vmlinux.gz copied to the first 4MB partition using copyboot.exe

Quote:>>>b -fl "i" dka0

.
..
...
aboot>0/vmlinux.gz root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1
.
..
...
insert RAMDISK, press enter.
(copied ramdisk from redhat 5.2 as redhat 6.0 ramdisk fails to mount vfs)

during the main packages install (loading bash i think - package 10(?))
the install hangs!!!

any ideas from people who have this setup running?

thanks,
-Ewan

Hello fellow jensen owners!

Thre is an updated installation instruction for the jensen, over at
www.alphalinux.org. Have a look under Docs Jensen, If any questions
remain  feel free to contact me. BTW RedHat 6.2 is way friendlier to the
jensen than 6.0, i.e. the clock programn works! And remember to add the
options 'text' and 'expert' to the aboot boot command, as the graphic
installer will sink your graphics adapter for good (power cycle).

Ahoi

1. Installing RH6 to Jensen

Hi,
I'm installing RH 6 to DEC 2000/300.
I've done the minlabel & copyboot (used the generic.img from CD) part.
I partitioned the disks (2 *1 G) as follows:
sda: 2 partitions. first 16 M and rest of the disk as one. Both ext2
sdb: first 32 M swap and the rest as one ext2 partition.

Now I get the aboot prompt. It takes a guess that I'd like to boot from
cd (as I'd like to) and asks for the kernel name & arguments. I give
the "vmlinux.gz" to it and it starts to boot. However it stops
at "starting kwap..." A few lines before that is this message :
"Max ASN from HWRPB is bad (0xf)"
What's wrong?
