Just a wild guess...did you upgrade from an earlier version
which did not include that group?  I think I remember that
or something similar when I did 2.8-->2.9 .

Perhaps check in /usr/src/etc/group to see if you need to
copy/merge the newer version into your /etc/group ?

If that is the case then you should also check all the
files in /usr/src/etc to see if there are differences
from your /etc/* .

im pretty sure it was a stock 2.9 install. i even tried deleteing the
source tree and regetting it from cvs. same error.

1. building 2.9-stable

hi,

i got an error during the build of 2.9-stable (followed faq to the letter)
so i did what the faq said me
to do so.

hostname# cd /usr/src
hostname# make -n build
(cd /usr/src/share/mk &&  make install)
(cd /usr/src/include; make prereq;  make includes)
make cleandir
(cd /usr/src/lib && make depend && make &&  NOMAN=1  make install)
(cd /usr/src/gnu/lib && make depend && make &&  NOMAN=1  make install)
(cd /usr/src/kerberosIV/lib && make depend && make &&  NOMAN=1  make
install)
(cd /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/perl &&  make -f Makefile.bsd-wrapper depend &&
make -f Makefile.bsd-wrapper perl.lib &&   make -f Makefile.bsd-wrapper
install.lib)
make depend && make &&  make install
hostname#

do i have to execute the command between () or not?

do i have to remove the /usr/obj dir before attempting another build??

please help me out
