newbie kernel config....

Post by Buddy Smit » Sun, 01 Aug 1999 04:00:00

I've just got through compiling/installing my first openBSD kernel.
well, i can't get a few devices working (mainly sound).
here's what i get in dmesg:
scsibus0 targ 0 lun 0: <PIONEER, CD-ROM DR-A04S, 1.02> SCSI0 5/cdrom removable not configured
"Intel 82371AB USB Host (PIIX4)" rev 0x01 at pci0 dev 7 function 2 not configured
"Intel 82371AB Power Management (PIIX4)" rev 0x01 at pci0 dev 7 function 3 not configured
"Nvidia Riva TNT" rev 0x04 at pci0 dev 10 function 0 not configured
isapnp0: <ESS ES1868 Plug and Play AudioD, ESS0000, , > port 0x800/8 not configured
isapnp0: <ESS ES1868 Plug and Play AudioD, ESS1868, , > port 0x220/16,0x388/4,0x330/2 irq 5 drq 1,0 not configured
isapnp0: <ESS ES1868 Plug and Play AudioD, ESS0001, , > port 0x201/1 not configured

how do i get these devices 'configured'? if needed, i can post the kernel config file as well.

these devices all work fine in the GENERIC kernel.

thanks very much!

1. Newbie Kernel Config Question

I need to know what is the difference between the following commands.
make boot
make zImage
make bzImage
I have tried to reconfigure my RH6.0 kernel and I get a kernel that is
4K bytes in size (and of course it doesn't work). These are the commands
I used, make mrproper, make clean, make xconfig, make (all of the
commands listed above), make dep, make modules, make install_modules.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks Steve
