NAT speed problems...

G'day. Fresh OpenBSD 2.5 install.
Got pppd running, via a 56k modem into local ISP.
Pulling down a 1.8MB PDF to the machine at about 7KB/s.
That's very reasonable.

Pulling it down to Linux box, on the other side of the ethernet interface
via NAT, and we're seeing 1.5 - 1.8KB/s.

ipnat.rules just consists of: map ppp0 Our.Class.C.96/27 -> ppp0/32

The hardware's diminutive (ISA NE2000, DX2/66 & 16MB RAM) but its only moving
stuff across to wire to one client...

Any reasons leap to mind as to why its so slow..?

Cheers
/dave

ive had this problem before, turn out my ethernet card was bad. see how
fast
a file transfers between the linux and bsd box. if its still 1.5-1.8KB
try
another card.
