build 2.9 stable goes wrong: Memory error

Post by Han » Tue, 05 Jun 2001 14:40:34

Hi,

I've been following current but since the current changes I can't do
that anymore so I decided on building 2.9. Allthough it was not the
exact working route I effectively did the following :

deleted my /usr/src and /usr/obj Just to make sure
Downloaded the source again with:

export CVS_RSH="/usr/bin/ssh"

cd /usr
cvs checkout -P -rOPENBSD_2_9 src

And:
build a new kernel,made obj and made build

[/usr/src]# make build
(cd /usr/src/share/mk &&  make install)
install -c -o root -g bin -m 444 bsd.README bsd.doc.mk bsd.dep.mk
bsd.lib.mk bsd.man.mk bsd.nls.mk  bsd.obj.mk bsd.own.mk bsd.port.mk
bsd.port.subdir.mk bsd.prog.mk  bsd.subdir.mk bsd.sys.mk sys.mk
bsd.lkm.mk  /usr/share/mk

Memory fault

Memory fault... I have to ctrl-c. Checked my memory with a memory
checking floppy... no errors what so ever. I made build a lot off times
without problems.

Anybody knows what went wrong?

These files should be in /build/src/sys/ and /usr/include .

Personally, I would have taken a source tree from a CD or a tarball
and then done CVS. (If you interrupted a CVS checkout and then did
update, it wouldn't fix the missing parts.)

update. Thsi was the second attemp the one before I got a sig11.

I'd let it rest to wait for inspiration. I just tried to build something
else and got the same error. My compiler and stuff was ruinined by the
sig11.
So I tar xzfpv comp29.tgz et voila :)

to do so.

hostname# cd /usr/src
hostname# make -n build
(cd /usr/src/share/mk &&  make install)
(cd /usr/src/include; make prereq;  make includes)
make cleandir
(cd /usr/src/lib && make depend && make &&  NOMAN=1  make install)
(cd /usr/src/gnu/lib && make depend && make &&  NOMAN=1  make install)
(cd /usr/src/kerberosIV/lib && make depend && make &&  NOMAN=1  make
install)
(cd /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/perl &&  make -f Makefile.bsd-wrapper depend &&
make -f Makefile.bsd-wrapper perl.lib &&   make -f Makefile.bsd-wrapper
