Post by liudna » Fri, 08 Jun 2001 00:38:28

Hi, I have installed new openbsd 2.9 with MySQL ant APACHE and PHP
(all from ports) crashes two or more times a day.
Hardware: AMD K6-250Mhz, 64RAM, 2Gb HDD, VIA chipset
Linux on this hardware worked for about 1.5 year without reboot :)

p.s. sorry for my english it's not my native tongue :)

Not to state the obvious, but this shouldn't happen ;)  OBSD should
easily be as                            stable as Linux.

What exactly do you mean by crash?  Does it throw you into DBB or just
freeze?  When does it happen?  Just saying it 'crashes' doesn't give
people here much to go on....

Do you have any strange peripherals installed on the system - APM
power management, USB, cheap network cards, etc? Post the output of
"dmesg", it may indicate you're running something odd which is
conflicting with OpenBSD's hardware support (which is great for
brand-name kit, a bit hit-and-miss with the stuff you buy for a few
quid at the local computer fair)

Does the whole system freeze the point where you can't ping it from an
external host or is it just the console that seizes?

Does it still freeze with all the daemons running or is it OK if you
run at a very low load (maybe the size of MySQL is filling your memory
and it's hitting a bad sector on the swap partition/corrupt RAM?)

1. Openbsd 2.9 hangs up/freezes after 4 hours

Hello,

I am having a problem with my firewall freezing up after about four
hours.  I can't SSH into the box or if I attach a monitor everything
is frozen, but no errors appear.   If I reboot the box everything works
fine again, yet another four hours.  Its really beginning to bother me
having to reboot all the time.  I have a cable connection, so
naturally I would like to stay connected all the time.

things I have noticed, but not sure what to do.
"Dmesg" command, I noticed a warning at the bottom  "warning / was not
properly mounted.   The only thing I can see is one line with Intel
power managemnet
rev 0x01 at pcio dev 7 function 3 not configured.

Need help some possible suggestions where to start to solve this
problem.

Where do I look for lease on openbsd, it maybe not renewing itsself?
Could it be a Ram problem bad memory??
Also, the clock time is different.  Does it need to be syncronized
with my ISP??

Is anyone else having this problem??  if so how did you fix it?
