Having some problems and needs some help or pointer please...

My modem is on COM2 and ppp or cu will pickup the TR, but no dialling takes
place (as evident by OH or dial noise).

My /etc/ppp/ppp.conf...
#
default:
set log Phase Chat LCP IPCP CCP tun command
 set device /dev/cua01
 set speed 115200
set dial "ABORT BUSY ABORT NO\\sCARRIER TIMEOUT 5 \"\" AT OK-AT-OK
ATM1L3E1Q0 OK \\dATDT\\T TIMEOUT 40 CONNECT"
 allow user jason titania

#
enternet:
 set phone 1272312
 set login
 set authname xxxxx
 set authkey xxxxx
 set timeout 900
 set ifaddr 10.0.0.1/0 10.0.0.2/0 255.255.255.0 0.0.0.0
 add default HISADDR
 set reconnect 5 5
set filter alive 0 permit tcp
#

Running ppp....
c16900# ppp -background enternet
Working in background mode
Using interface: tun0
Child failed (errdead)
c16900#

Cheers,
Jason

1. problem w/ ppp/modem

hello all,

i have this problem with openbsd 2.6 (on i386 (amd k6-233)):
when i start ppp it seems like there's no connection to the
modem (external us robotics 28800 sportster). as a non root
user i start ppp. when i try to "talk" to the modem (using)
term, i get no response, what i type is not even echoed.
the only solution is then to type "~." to exit the term.

$ ppp

do i need to configure the tun0 device? how? as i said, after the
term command in ppp, i dont get no response (nor an echo of my
typed commands (like at, ...)). the leds on the modem dont
change either.

in case it is usefule, i recompiled the kernel with the following
configs:

conf/GENERIC: only modif: enabled option GATEWAY
arch/i386/conf/GENERIC: as is from distribution

thanks for your help.
