Gnome apps with KDE 3.1

Gnome apps with KDE 3.1

I'm using RH9 and prefer KDE to Gnome.  However, there are still a few
Gnome apps I like (eg - Galeon).  I understand running Gnome apps in
KDE will cause various Gnome bits and pieces to use memory and CPU
cycles, but is it worth worrying about?  I have an AMD 1GHZ CPU with
768MB RAM and performance is OK, I just don't like the idea of wasting
resources.

PS - the upgrade from RH8 to RH9 was too easy.  No problems yet.

1. How to install KDE or GNOME in OpenBSD 3.1 ?

In a pristine installation of OpenBSD 3.1, I copied ports.tar.gz into
the /usr directory and ran "tar zxf ports.tar.gz", then issued the
command "cd /usr/ports/x11/kde", and then issued "make".  It ran for
quite some time, then stopped with errors.
Issuing the "make" command from within /usr/ports/x11/gnome also gave me
some errors after running for some time.
What are the correct steps in building/installing KDE/GNOME in a fresh
install of OpenBSD 3.1?
By the way, I'm able to run X, though.
Thanks.
