How would one turn off the boot and shutdown beeps in Redhat 7.x?

There is the beep at boot when sshd loads. There is a beep when you
first reboot or halt and there is one when pcmcia deamon stops.

I ride in a van pool and the noise is anoying. (I know I could put a
plug in the headphone jack, but there should be a software solution.)

I did a web search and could not find it documented, although I expect
it's out there.
