RH 7.3 sendmail config tool?

RH 7.3 sendmail config tool?

Post by Michael Knig » Thu, 20 Jun 2002 09:10:16

Since RedHat has decided not to include linuxconf in their new distro,
can someone point me to whatever kludge tool they've included in RH
7.3 to configure sendmail?

I can't seem to find one.  The only configuration tool under the
"Servers" portion of the new "Start Here" garbage is the Apache config
tool.

I tried simply substituting my old RH 7.2 sendmail.cf file which
worked great, but doesn't seem to work well with the version of
sendmail included with RH 7.3.  I even ran xxdiff on both the new 7.3
sendmail.cf and my old one, and there are a number of significant
differences, as well as what looks like several new configurations
sections.

Is there another sendmail config tool I'm missing, or did I simply
neglect to install one during my RH 7.3 installation?  In the
meantime, mail into my machine seems to be broken.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Missing linuxconf......

Try going to /usr/share/sendmail-cf and follow the instructions in the
README file to generate a new sendmail.cf file. This is really the
preferred method for editing sendmail.cf anyway.

I'm assuming that this still works in RH 7.3; I'm still using 7.2.

1. Sendmail config under RH 7.3

Hello,

I've always used linuxconfig to configure sendmail masquerading.
It appears that linuxconfig is totally gone under RH 7.3 and I
don't see a replacement for this function.  Does anyone know of
a tool other then linuxconfig for configuring sendmail?  I guess
I could do it the old fashioned way and edit the sendmail.mc
file and build sendmail.cf but the tool is so much nicer.

Thanks in advance!    -- Tom Combs
