Yeah it's suprisingly easy - I'm assuming you selected DHCP during your
RH7.1 install process, if you didn't, i think there's a utility which can
do it for you but I can't remember what it is. Anyhow, you go into
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and there should be a file called
ifcfg-ethX (where ethX is obviously your ethernet interface) and it
should look something like:

DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
ONBOOT=yes

You simply add

DHCP_HOSTNAME="co3022008-a"

at the end of the file, and then if you become root and do a

/sbin/service network restart

you should see the interface eth0 come up just fine.

Make sure you have ipchains or iptables setup properly so you don't have
