I've tried both...I was just wondering everyone's opinion of either one.

Redhat 7.0 vs Redhat 7.1

Post by Don Birdsal » Fri, 27 Jul 2001 13:02:12

Many folks reported problems with 7.0. I personally had problems with the
up2date utility, and had to manually locate (on the web) and install
several upgrade packages before I had a properly functioning 7.0 system. I
upgraded the system to 7.1 with just few minor problems. Everything works
well now.

I would definitely go with 7.1. Then use the up2date utility to upgrade a
bunch of other packages. Don't know what the next release will bring, but
the RedHat people are clearly dedicated to improving their product.

1. RedHat 7.1 vs 7.0 for stability/reliability

Now that RedHat 7.1 is out, I'm considering upgrading from 7.0 to 7.1.
7.1 has kernel 2.4.2, although 2.4.3 is the latest stable version.
7.0 has kernel 2.2.16.
How does stability of 2.2.6 compare to 2.4.2?
Is RedHat 7.1 as stable/reliable as 7.0?
Is the upgrade worth the hassle?
