New kernel problems

New kernel problems

Post by Haim Ashkenaz » Tue, 24 Aug 1999 04:00:00

Hi,
I've compiled a new kernel to make it work with my isdn card (I compiled it
from the kernel-source-2.2.5...rpm), but now I get some NFS errors while
booting.. when I configured the source I answered no to the NFS options so I
don't understand where did this error came from.
Here are  the relevant lines from /var/log/messages:

----------------------------------------------------------
Aug 23 12:52:22 localhost nfs: Starting NFS services:  succeeded
Aug 23 12:52:23 localhost nfs: rpc.statd startup succeeded
Aug 23 12:52:23 localhost nfs: rpc.rquotad startup succeeded
Aug 23 12:52:23 localhost nfs: rpc.mountd startup succeeded
Aug 23 12:52:23 localhost rpc.nfsd: nfssvc: Function not implemented
Aug 23 12:52:23 localhost nfs: rpc.nfsd startup failed
------------------------------------------------------------------

I also have an error when I halt the computer:

Aug 23 12:58:13 localhost vmware: vmnet-bridge shutdown failed

can anyone please help me in correcting these errors?
Thanks
haim

New kernel problems

Haim,

Documentation for VMware states that it must be reinstalled.  I think
the VMware installation script uses gcc to compile the vmnet-bridge
module.  For some reason this allows it to run properly.  If you did not
re-install, this may be your problem for the computer halt.

Note: cross posting to vmware.for-linux.configuration from
news.vmware.com
