RH 8.0 and FrontPage

RH 8.0 and FrontPage

What do I have to down to get FrontPage to work on Apache with RH 8.0
out of the box.  Are there some specific steps that people are willing
to share.

I would also like to be able to install FP2002 extensions if possible.

Any help is greatly appriciated...

From http://www.rtr.com/fpsupport/whatsnew.htm#Apache%202.0%20Support

Apache 2.0 Support

Microsoft has recently announced that support for the FrontPage
Server Extensions with Apache 2.0 will be available in a future
release. Ready-to-Run Software has already begun the work necessary
to provide Apache 2.0 support. Additional information will be
posted concerning the upcoming release as it becomes available.

That was dated October 1st.

Who knows when they'll actually do this.

RH 8.0 and FrontPage

Does all implementations of FP under Apache require a recompile based
off of the original RH 8.0 Apache RPM?

It seems that this is what everyone mentioning (recompiling Apache
with the mod's).  I don't have much experience with compiling the
modules under Linux.

1. RH 8.0 and USB Printer - Worst RH I've ever used

Red Hat 8.0

Fresh install on a PIII-500 with 392MB of RAM.

Printer is a USB-connected Brother HL1440 laser printer.
It worked 100% under Red Hat 7.2 and 7.3......

After playing with it all day, I got it to work - finally - for about
an hour.I could print form lInu8x and Windows network clients....and
locally.

Then, cosmic rays must have got in the way, because now it won't print
at all.

It's like the USB has gone to sleep....or something.

Certainly the printer powers down into power-saving mode....and that
was NO problem under RH 7.3.

RH 8.0 can't seem to cope with it....

Printing is LPRng.....to /dev/usb/lp0.

*sigh*

It wouldn't be so bad if the print to the Epson 440 connected to the
OTHER RH 8.0 system isn't also plagued with problems. The output comes
out like I'd smeared mud on the print head jets.

So RH 8.0 - installed on two different systems, with two different
printers - can't print on either one.

Plus it broke my XINE.....which now crashes on startup saying it can't
find the aRts sound thingy.....

So far - FOR ME -  this is the worst Red Hat I've used since 5.1
couldn't partition my hard drive.....and I've used them all.
