iptables ULOG and RedHat 7.2

iptables ULOG and RedHat 7.2

Is anyone using the ULOG extention target with standard redhat 7.2 + patches ?

The module seems to be on the machine by default :


...
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         6016 Nov  5  2001 libipt_ULOG.so
...

Linux x 2.4.7-10smp #1 SMP Thu Sep 6 17:09:31 EDT 2001 i686

I get the follwoing error :


iptables: No chain/target/match by that name

and in the syslog :
Oct 15 21:32:21 x modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module ipt_ULOG

I have not seen much docs on how to do this....

Anybody have any pointers ?

If I pick a bogus target name it kicks out a different error so it seems
to know ULOG is there...


iptables v1.2.4: Couldn't load target `XLOG':/lib/iptables/libipt_XLOG.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

1. redhat 7.2 iptables logging not working

I cannot get iptables logging to work with redhat 7.2.  I have iptables
working on another box with version 7.1 after searching and figuring out
that I needed to add "kern.*" to the /var/log/messages line of my
/etc/syslog.conf file.  But same trick does not seem to work with 7.2.  I
have verified that the ipt_LOG module is loaded.  klogd is loaded with
syslog and running.  Any ideas?
