Opening Ports for Sidewinder Game Voice

Post by C. Sco » Thu, 11 Jan 2001 09:18:39

Can anyone tell me how to open TCP Port 47624 (inbound and outbound)
TCP Ports 2300-2400 (all ports in this series, inbound and outbound)
UDP Ports 2300-2400 (all ports in this series, inbound and outbound)
for use with the MS Sidewinder Game Voice.

I did manage to open port 47624 using the following in my rc.local file:

ipmasqadm portfw -a -P tcp -L 12.162.118.112 47624 -R 192.168.1.2 47624

but this will not, for some reason, allow me to open 2300-2400 tcp or udp.

Thanks for any help!

#Open incoming
ipchains -A input -p tcp -d <your ip address> 2300:2400 -j ACCEPT
ipchains -A input -p udp -d <your ip address> 2300:2400 -j ACCEPT
ipchains -A input -p tcp -d <your ip address> 47624 -j ACCEPT

#Open outgoing
ipchains -A output -p tcp -d <your ip address> 2300:2400 -j ACCEPT
ipchains -A output -p udp -d <your ip address> 2300:2400 -j ACCEPT
ipchains -A output -p tcp -d <your ip address> 47624 -j ACCEPT

Stick that in a script called joystick-up, and make another called
joystic-down that is just like that, but has D's instaed of A's...

Run up before you play, and down afterward...

I'm afraid I didn't have any luck.  It could be something I'm doing wrong,
but let me explain my arrangement a little further, I may have left out
important info in the original post....

My firewall is running Caldera.  The computer that I am attempting to use
the Game Voice on is running Windows 98SE.  When inserting my IP in the
statements above, do I use the external IP for the firewall (the IP
assigned me by the cable company), the internal IP for the firewall (the
one I assigned it), or the IP of the Windows computer on the internal
network (again, assigned by me) or is there a totally different way to go
about this knowing that I am behind a firewall and trying to get out?

Thanks again!!
