Wrapping text around Graphics?

Wrapping text around Graphics?

Post by Francis M. B » Wed, 16 Oct 1996 04:00:00

Hi everyone,

I have used TeX/LaTeX for quite a while but I've only used simple
features. Now, I need some help using the advanced features :-)
(BTW, I do have "LaTeX Companion" but I could not digest everything given
in this over-informative book :-)

I'd like to know how to insert a graphic file (e.g. EPS) into my
*document and have text wrapping aroung it. Something like this:

...      TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT    ....
                                     ______________
                      This is the   |              |
first figure, |   Figure 1   | (possible text
in black      |              |  over here)
                      and white,     --------------
of a very big whale, a huge creature!

...      TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT    ....

FYI, I'm using teTeX 0.3.4 as provided by RedHat Linux 4.0.

Thanking you all in advance :-)

There are two packages you can use:
floatfig and
wrapfig.
Should be available on CTAN directory macros/...

For the problem mentioned, floatflt suggests itself.  It has about the
sanest syntax and semantics of the usable packages, if my memory
serves me right.

1. LaTeX: Wrapping text around an EPS graphic (w/ caption)?

Sorry if this is a frequently asked question.  I've been away from
LaTeX for a while.  Is there a way to wrap text around an EPS graphic?
I'd like to put the graphic, along with a caption, along the left or
right edge of the text area (ie, inside the margins), and have the text
wrap around the other side.  I've been looking in Kopka/Daly, and the
various "Companion" books, but haven't found a way to do this yet.

Thanks very much.
