PiCTeX?

PiCTeX?

Post by Mr M.I. Penningt » Tue, 28 Jun 1994 23:54:35

I've been trying to incorporate some diagrams into my*files, and so far
I'm having little success. I've tried creating diagrams using xfig and
porting them in as epsf files, and that works ok, but I noticed that xfig
get export diagrams in PiCTeX format (which I guess is some kind of diagram
macros for TeX), and*format with epic macros. However neither of these
second two methods seems to work too well. Can anyone tell me any more about
PiCTeX or the epic macros, like what they are, or where I might get hold of
them, if (as seems to be the case) my university UNIX account doesn't have
access to them.

        Thanks

                Matt

I use PiCTeX all the time and it is very easy to use.  You will
want to get the manual from TUG, which includes the macros on a
disk.

epic, eepic and eepicemu are*macros for pictures. They use the
*fonts so they are an extension to the*picture environment.

PiCTeX is a (La)TeX independent (it does not need any special font)
for doing any kind of drawing. It is very powerful but also very
demanding and very slow.
