I am faced with this weird problem of missing fonts while I run dvips.
This is in the linux machine which has NTex. I have done no tampering with
any configuration files and anyother files. When I*there is no problem.
Since I don't have any X-windows loaded, I want to view the postscript output
thru gs. This MakeTexpk has been *^&^%ing about missing fonts. The error msgs
go like this
missing font cmmr10 at 300 dpi.... blah blah...
To my knowledge I have loaded every thing in the Tex package. I made sure by
re-loading the entire thing. I am so confused and sick of it I would appreciate
if some one can give me some pointers to what's happening
Let's get the facts here - how does this maketexpk run - which file tells it
to find which fonts where? I know that the fonts are there and for some reason
it is not able to locate them.
Next what is the font hierarchy - mf, tfm, vf, pk... where does the gf fonts
fit into the picture?
If a particular font is not available (I am talking about regular CM fonts),
a substitution of some other font should be default, if I am not mistaken.
I ran the test document first without loading any PS fonts - the entire document
came blank! When I used the PS package using \usepackage{times}, the text
came out in times font with all variables such as the math fonts etc. missing.
That way with Times, something was visible. I am sure there is a*up
somewhere while running the dvips program.
Is it me or anyone else who have experienced similar problems with Linux's Ntex
package?
Your comments and suggestions are appreciated.
