Xwindows "global"/default font change

Xwindows "global"/default font change

Post by Patrick Kh » Mon, 18 Jul 1994 22:02:32

Does anyone know how to set the default font for ALL X applications without
going through and setting the font for each on of them on config files?
Is there an easier way? I'm thinking of -adobe-helvetica-medium-r-*-16-
something or other. Looks good in 1024x768 mode on a 14inch screen.

Any help is greatly appreciated..

You can try to add the following line into your ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources
(depends on your ~/.xinitrc):

   *Font: -adobe-helvetica-medium-r-*-16-

Although I do not think this is a good idea, at least all the Xaw
applications should then use the same font.

If you only want to use the same font in your xterm, then do this:
   XTerm*Font: ....

I would also suggest you to read a good book on X11 (resource manager, etc).

Hope this helps,

Yan
