Help with server and PPP/SLIP

Post by Paul C Rounsava » Sat, 12 Nov 1994 05:37:53

My roommate and I share a computer line to a dialup.  What I am considering is
a old computer with a modem that will coonect to the server and run slip or ppp
.  From that computer Both my computer and his Mac would use a serial cable to
connect to the Server.  What I need to know is what is the minimum processor
that will run Linux.  also, I am root on the machine that will run the other
end of the slip/ppp connect, but I am not root of the machine that is the
dialup.  Is this possible?  Any possible problems/hints will be appreciated.
Please respond by email, as I do not read this group very often.

Paul

PS I have previously run and setup Linux Slackware on my old 486 machine (ie.
I am familiar with Linux, just not with Slip/ppp and minimum configs)  Thanks
in advance.,
