HELP: Read-only filesystem!!

Post by Alan L.M. Bux » Fri, 12 Aug 1994 23:32:07

Hi,

I've got Linux up and running now, thanks to FIPS and the Slackware
install software. Even X-Windows was running fine.

Until about 1 hour ago!!

I tried getting the swapfile running (it had stopped for some reason) so
i edited the `etc/fstab' file -> and removed the 1st line which stated
that the swap file was /dev/sda2 (which it wasnt, it was /dev/sda3 ).
I then changed /etc/fc.d/fc.S so that the line initiating the swapfile
was changed to

swapon /dev/sda3.

I then rebooted.

And the whole system is now read-only!!

So, how do i get it back to read-write and what was the first line of
fstab ?
it went something like

/dev/sda2    /    /<something here> /default

any helpers???

alan
