RPC time out ?

Post by Yu_hong H » Sun, 12 Sep 1993 03:12:38

There are three NFS mounts in my fstab.
Everytime the Linux boots , the first one will always be mounted.
But the other two won't! And it will left this kind of message:
rpc mount : RPC time out

Is there anyone who could tell me how to solve this problem?
  Please help me .
  Thanks.

Sorry, no answer. But I got exactly the same problem. I realized that I can try
to mount the second or third "NFS-partition" may be 10 minutes later and this will
sometimes run!!! On the other hand I saw the mount-daemon on my NFS-server (LINUX too)
crashing my whole system when taking more than 97% of my CPU-time. After killing
the mountd and restarting it, I sometimes can mount more than one "NFS-partition".

1. RPC time outs at boot time

Recently I've just started having a problem at boot time, when my system is
starting up, I get a bunch of messages:
NFS Portmap: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Timed out.

I'm currently at a loss as to what to do to fix this.
The machine that is booting is set up to mount a few filesystems over NFS,
but it has booted up fine before.  Perhaps I have a problem with my
tcpwrappers setup? (denying ALL:ALL)

Thanks in advance for any advice, help, etc...
