When I ran 'startx' to run KDE the backspace key worked. Now after
I edited the /etc/inittab to autostart KDE the backspace key no longer
works, especially in Netscape (ver. 4.61).
I was told modify the Xkeyboard map, but I didn't have any success
with that. When X starts up I get the following text on the console...
The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
Error: Cannot open "/var/X11R6/xkb/compiled/server-0.xkm" to write
keyboard description
Exiting
Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap
I checked for this file, it doesn't exist, nor anywhere else on the
system either
after running the "find' command.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks.
