KDE2 and Netscape 4.74

Post by Michael Schul » Wed, 14 Feb 2001 07:07:21

Being a new to Linux and KDE2 I hope that I can find help in this forum:
I have problems getting Netscape working, with the preferences set-up in
particular.
Whenever I click on an input box, Netscape closes immedeatly, same
happens in many
other taks ( entering an url address etc. ).

Any idea ?

Michael

Just one, skip netscape, its allways been a royal pain in the rear end.

Use Konqueror instead or maybe you want to try out the new Opera-5b6:
<URL: http://www.opera.com/download/linux.html>
The statically linked version seems to be very stable.

Another webbrowser is mozilla, netscape version 6 is based on this
browser.

There is one huge difference between Opera and Mozilla: Opera is a very
efficient user of system resources ("small footprint"), and Mozilla is
still a monster. ie. if you don't have stacks of ram, go for Opera. It is a
beauty. And the latest version is free, just like the others. It does come
with a window ad, though. This can be removed with a payment for rego. But
for me, the ad is bearable. It is now one of top browsers on Linux as well
as Windows.

1. Netscape Communicator 4.74 OVER 4.73

OK, I'm having a little difficulty. Mandrake Linux 7.1 comes with Netscape
Communicator 4.73. I want to use 4.74. But, when I install it, it won't
run. When I run it from konsole, it says the resources are 4.73, but this
is 4.74, and this is why it won't run. Gimme some help here...somebody....
