Replacing the Red Hat icon with the KDE gear icon

How might someone replace the RedHat icon for the start application menu button
under the KDE 3.1 desktop with the KDE tri-gear icon?  The properties menu line
is missing for this panel button and for the desktop button also.  Can one
access the properties and change the icon?

Thanks!

You would need to recompile source code for that one. It can't be configured
manually.

Nah, just do this:

$ su
# copy /usr/share/icons/kdeclassic/32x32/apps/kmenu.png
/usr/share/icons/Bluecurve/32x32/apps/

Oops... 'copy' should of course read 'cp'

Look for the icon themes and have a blast.  There's a good few very pretty
ones.  I personlly use Noia Warm.

Bear in mind that the solution was for KDE3.1 (most likely on RH9), so
if you want it to work in KDE3.0 (the default with RH8) you will need
to change theh path to the original png file accordingly (I think that
the "kdeclassic" bit should be "hicolor" or similar).

I added the first save line, but the fix works great!  no more Red Hat logo to
stare at (sorry) Thanks for that handy tip!

Dear Newsgroup,

Looking for the following:

*  Sites and directories for icons that I can use in the toolbar when setting
    up new buttons in X
* An icon viewer for linux and I heard that you are able to get an icon
converter from somewhere which allows you to convert icons from a Windows
format *.ico to a format in X

Thank you to all.
