KMail 1.2 and KDE 2.1.1 cuts off bottom print line

Post by Michael Fral » Tue, 18 Sep 2001 09:15:37

Hello,

When I try to print mail from Kmail 1.2, in KDE 2.1.1, it ignores the bottom
margin of letter size paper. I'm choosing "Letter" in the print dialog box,
not the default A4. But it prints beyond the margin, and then on the
following page it repeats several lines from the previous page. Those are
the lines that ran off the margin. Help! Any suggestions?

What distro are you using?  I'm seeing that on all printouts (Konqueror,
Kmail) with Caldera Workstation 3.1 using cups.

This is not a Kmail problem. I am using KDE2.2 and have the same problem
when printing from Kmail, Konqueror and Netscape. I think I have even
seen a bug report for this reproblem and hope it will be fixed.

Horst

I'm using Slackware 8.0. It looks like QT libraries handle the printing, so
it would make sense you're seeing the overrun everywhere. I'll try printing
from some other apps and see if it's the same.

1. Atrocious printed output from KMail 1.2 using KDE 2.1

I'm having a bit of a problem with printed output from KMail. When I print
an email from KMail the font size is absolutely huge. I thought it might be
because I was using custom display fonts in KMail so I went back and
configured Kmail to use whatever defaults it uses. Still no luck.

I thought perhaps I had messed up my printer configuration so I tried
printing out an old email from Communicator 4.76. Communicator generates
descent looking output. I have also printed a few web pages from Konqueror
to see if perhaps it was only KDE apps which couldn't print nicely but the
output from Konqueror looks quite nice as well.

Is there anything I can change in KMail to affect the font size it uses
when printing? I'm printing on a Lexmark Optra Color 40 which accepts
Postscript.

Thanks in advance,

Tony
