Suse 7.2 : KDE 2.1.2 Konqueror Always Crashes

Post by Stev » Wed, 12 Sep 2001 07:50:12

I'm running Suse 7.2 personal edition with kde 2.1.2.

Konqueror always crashes.  I use netscape for the web, but konqueror
always crashing ruins some file browsing functions as well as the suse
help center.

Any ideas where I can begin to solve this problem?

everytime it crashes I get a "signal 11 sigsegv" error.

Below the "=========" is the back trace from the crash manager:

try to get the KDE 2.2, which has a Konqueror more stable;
perhaps there are even packages from SuSE.
(there are for shure from kde.org)

so long,

Markus

looks like all errors appear somewhere in kdebase, but i'm no kde-hacker so
this only a guess. afaik there was a new version of kdebase-2.1.2 at suse.
you can install the fixed (a security fix afair) package via YOU. good luck
:).

Suse 7.2 : KDE 2.1.2 Konqueror Always Crashes

Post by Stev » Thu, 13 Sep 2001 22:59:35

Well, I learned something new that may help the Suse or the KDE people
help me.

The situation I described in the originial post to this thread doesn't
happen when I am logged in as root.

Konqueror only crashes ever time when I log into my member account
"steve".

I fixed it.

I used YAST to delete the account called "steve", I then used YAST to
recreate this account, and then I moved my files back into
/home/steve.

Solved that and a few other bugs.

Suse 7.2 : KDE 2.1.2 Konqueror Always Crashes

Post by Christopher John Shake » Sun, 23 Sep 2001 13:01:51

That is strange.

Konqueror started crashing for me with a signal 11 every time I tried
to start it as a normal user. Rebooting my machine got rid of the problem.

I'm running with the kde that came standard on SuSe 7.2
